Blabbering of a Fool
Jay Chou’s (周杰倫) first directorial and written piece…and it’s understandable that the plot is rather predictable (I figured out the gist of the plot almost right after the beginning). However, the direction of the movie isn’t too bad, being his first work.
The plot…well, not gonna spoil the movie for anyone who hasn’t watch it…seems to have taken parts from ‘のだめカンタービレ/Nodame Cantabile’, and ‘いま、会いにゆきます/Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu’. As for the lead female role, played by 桂綸鎂/Gui Lun Mei, it seems to be common stereotype, where the girl is always afflicted with some kind of illness (why can’t it be the guy who is the ill one?). Nevertheless, there is a pretty decent twist near the end of the movie.
Anyway, it is a serene/simple piece of work, similar to ‘タイヨウのうた/Taiyou no Uta’. For those who watched it, or are going to watch it, please look out for these 2 parts of the movie that are left unanswered (highlight, as it might contain that wee bit of spoiler):
- Why is there an extra copy of the ‘Secret’ or ‘Swan’ score?
- What happen to the father, played by 黄秋生/Anthony Wong in the end?
Please do tell me the answers to these questions, if you know them. Thank you. 🙂
I give a score of: 3½/5.
